This blog post is part of a series of blog posts about how to increase the number of local website visitors to your website every month.

The ‘Google 3-Pack’ is the area inside the Google search results that appears when you (or anyone) do a local search.

If you want more sales within your local business it is very advantageous to have your business listed in the ‘Google 3-pack’. After all, it’s usually the first thing someone sees when they do a ‘local intent search’ in Google. This type of search is typically done when someone is searching for a specific service type in their local area – eg. a Plumber, Builder, Website Agency, Doctor, Cafe or any other service-based business type.  For example, when you (or anyone) search something like: “plumber near me”, “plumbing”, “local plumbing business”, or “plumber [location name]” up to 3 local businesses will appear in the ‘Google 3-pack’ area.

As the name applies, only 3 businesses can be displayed within this area. A screenshot of the ‘Google 3-pack’ is below:

Getting your business listed in the ‘Google 3-pack’ can take a bit of effort, if you have a lot of direct competitors in your local area. With a bit of know-how though it is achievable. The initial activities to do this include:

  • Get a great website. As in a REALLY good website that makes your business stand out from your competitors
  • Set up (or update and enhance) your Google Business Profile Listing
  • Ask for reviews from your customers. Ask them to post their reviews to your Google Business Profile.
  • Check the reviews posted to your Google Business Profile at least once per month. Make sure they are positive. If you get any negative reviews, contact us and we’ll help you resolve them (there are ways to do this).
  • Make sure that any other Online Directory Listing websites (eg. Yelp, Truelocal, LocalSearch, Yellow Pages Online, etc) that lists your business contain up-to-date information about your business. This includes your phone number.
  • Make sure the ‘about’ information within your Facebook Business Page is up to date and accurate.
  • Check that there are no negative reviews in your Facebook Business Page.

There are also other things you can do, but if I list them all here, this blog post is going to become long-winded and boring. If you need a hand with getting your business listed in the ‘Google 3-pack’ or gaining more local website visitors to your website, feel free to contact us.
