If you want to increase the number of local website visitors to your website, there are some straightforward ways to do it. One of them is called Local SEO.

Here is a quick run-down about how to do Local SEO (Local Search Engine Optimisation):

  • Get your website listed in the ‘Google 3-pack‘ as it is called. This partly involves setting up a Google Business Profile (or enhancing it if you already have one). Side note: The Google Business Profile used to be called ‘Google My Business‘.
  • Gain as many quality reviews on your Google Business Profile as you possibly can.
  • Make sure you have a great quality website (that is also ‘SEO-Friendly’)
  • Choose search terms that people use when searching Google, when they want to find/ discover (and purchase) the types of services and products you sell. These types of search terms are things like:  “plumber hervey bay”, “home builder childers”, “art supply store cooroy”, “hairdresser bundaberg”, etc.
  • Optimise your website for these search terms using effective Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) methods.
  • Monitor how your website ranks in Google, Google Mobile and Bing for the search terms (keyword phrases) you have optimised your website for. Use software like SEMRush to do this. Or you can ask us to do this for you (we use SEMRush). Don’t try and monitor your rankings using Google — the data will not be accurate. Read this article to learn why.
  • Read the SEO analogy on this page of our website.
  • Start a blog within your website. Some tips about this are here.
  • There are also other activities. Two of which are called building ‘citations’ and ‘backlinks’. I’ll write about these things and other things another day.

You can do all this work yourself, if you feel inclined. We actually coach/ teach clients how to do all this if they want to learn. Or we can do this work for you like we do for other clients.

Either way, if you put in the work, you will start gaining great increases in visitor traffic to your website.

Over the coming weeks, I will write more blog posts about the specific things I have listed above.
Yesterday I wrote a short blog post about the ‘Google 3-pack’. Click here to view it.

Side note: Getting more traffic to your website is one thing. Getting more sales in another… but thankfully this is not hard.
You just need to make sure your website is excellent, that it stands out from the crowd, and that it is better than your direct competitor’s websites. You also need to make sure it is up-to-date and accurate.

If you’re not sure if your website is excellent or not, contact us and we’ll do an audit investigation. We’ll then let you know.

Side note 02: If you are in any kind of business, you will want to know what Negative SEO is. it is prevalent and can damage your business. I kid you not! It is a serious issue that all business owners and managers need to be aware of. Click the link below to learn about it:
