Many in our industry are cutting corners to create websites more quickly. This is yet another way some are trying to keep afloat as the cost of living and the cost of doing business keeps going up. These websites are inferior and do more harm than good!
Some are even using AI to generate websites. This too is also an inferior way of creating websites, and offers little to no value to the owner of the website, except in some specific cases.
In this blog post the first thing I want to say is: We are NOT cutting corners! We are doing everything correctly, as we have always done!
The second thing I want to say is: We are NOT using AI to generate websites!
If you ask us to do work for you, it will be done by real humans with expertise. Not soulless AI bots!
You will see we’ve even included a little ‘NO AI’ badge on the homepage of our website. It looks like this:
As mentioned above, many other website freelancers and agencies are trying to sell AI generated websites at the moment.
Some AI-generated sites look better than others. NONE are anywhere near as good as what real human experts can create. It is well known that AI-generated websites:
- Often look generic and won’t aid your brand identity (or brand uniqueness)
- Won’t help your business stand out
- Lack strategic conversions-focused ingredients (that help gain decent numbers of leads, enquiries and sales every month)
- Are not coded to be SEO-friendly
- Are not easy to update, manage and/or maintain correctly
AI generated websites at the moment will not provide the ROI you’re seeking, vs an expertly crafted ‘conversions-focused website’ created by humans with years upon years of experience and expertise.
What about in the future?
Who knows what the future will hold, and like any technology industry, our industry evolves VERY fast!
If Govs and private industry around the world do not come together to dramatically slow the development, sophistication and evolution of AI, then maybe ‘AI website generation’ technology will become so good that it is no longer cost-effective or even financially viable for humans to be heavily involved in the creation of websites anymore.
But for now, the technology is not that good.
My thoughts about AI
I am of many minds about AI, and as per what I wrote on this page recently, “We don’t believe we should get addicted or too reliant on using AI, especially if it gets partially banned (or restricted) in the near future.”
This is also why I am not building AI Agents at the moment to do some of our work for us. I don’t want us getting lazy, losing our skills and/or getting rusty (Aka: “If you don’t use it, you lose it.”)
I don’t want to turn this into a long blog post by going into all the many reasons why AI-generated websites are not good. I just want to keep this blog post relatively short and make it very clear that Green Valley Digital DOES NOT use AI to generate websites.
