A little while ago I wrote a blog post titled ‘5 Easy Ways to Make your Website Work Harder for your Local Business‘. This is a quick companion blog post that contains another 3 relatively easy ways to make your website generate more money for your business. It does not however include overly obvious things like adding an online shop and/or selling online courses. That is a given (for those who want to go down these paths), but is not what this blog post is about.
Below is just 3 things that do not take a whole lot of effort, but can increase conversions… and of course ‘conversions’ equals ‘money’ for any business type, including service-based businesses like private medical businesses, law-firms, tourism businesses, trades-services, etc.
1/ Provide a compelling reason for people to join your Mailing List
Over 50% of first-time website visitors do not perform a desired action (eg. they don’t enquire)… and they may never return to your website… unless… (please read on).
Each website visitor you don’t make some form of connection with is a missed opportunity.
To fix this, add a very strong offer to your website that people need to opt-in to gain access to.
The offer is called the ‘lead magnet’ and the opt-in form connects to your mailing list system (eg. MailChimp or GoHighLevel ), so they opt-in to a mailing list. You can then send them emails. The emails can be set up ‘automated’ (auto-responder emails), or manually created (like the one I sent today).
The site visitor/ recipient then receives informative short emails over the coming weeks and months which helps them learn more about the value that your business provides, and when they are ready to purchase the services (and/or products) that your business provides, it is YOUR business that is top-of-their-mind, NOT one of your competitors. They then contact your business. Your sales team can then do their thing.
This is such a simple strategy and it has been around for years. It is tried and tested and works! It’s also VERY easy to set up.
2/ E-E-A-T Signals
E-E-A-T stands for (Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness). Building E-E-A-T signals into your website is key to gaining more enquiries, more leads and more sales.
E-E-A-T signals can include things like social-proof (customer reviews, testimonials, video testimonials, case studies, awards, business license number, useful informative blog posts, other free resource types like books, videos, eBooks, webinar recordings, podcasts, vlogcasts/vodcasts, video guest interviews, media & press engagements including TV show and magazine interviews, etc). As an example, even just starting by adding something as simple as short written customer testimonials (like those in the below screenshot) within key pages of your website is easy to do:
3/ AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) Strategies
Because of Google AI Overview and voice-search like Siri, gaining more discovery and awareness for your business also now involves ‘AEO’ (Answer Engine Optimisation). Information about it is in another blog post I have recently written. You can find it here.
This strategy requires a bit of work, but is well worth it if you are wanting to gain more customers organically by people using technology. Everyone uses technology to find businesses, so it’s a jolly good idea to get onboard with AEO strategies.
