We re-designed our website because our previous website was built using a method that was starting to slow us down.
Like any business in a competitive industry, our business needs to be nimble, pro-active, allow us to jump on opportunities fast, innovative and be able to launch online sales funnels, digital marketing campaigns, offers and other things fast! We needed to use a more modern website platform that would allow us to do this.
The platform we have chosen is actually one we have been using for most client/customer website projects for the past 4 years. It is great!
It was high-time we also started using it for our own business here at Green Valley Digital!
Other reasons why we designed a new website include: We needed to better communicate our values and how we serve others:
- We’re digital problem solvers
- We can be relied upon whenever needed
- Each day we strive to make sure we are providing excellent support and results for our clients. This is of paramount importance to us
- We are relaxed people and are not pushy
- We’re fair, fair-minded and honest
- We spend the time deep-diving, testing and keeping on top of new technologies and innovations, so our clients don’t have to (as much)
- Technology is great when it works. We choose technology and platforms that are reliable, stable and “just work”. We never want our clients wasting time troubleshooting inferior buggy technology
- We really care about security
- We are creative but also practical people
- When our clients are thriving, we are at our most happy. “Happy clients, happy life.”
- As we all know, the colour ‘green’ indicates ‘growth’, ‘go’, ‘moving forward’ and nature. As our clients grow, we grow. “We grow together”
The old Green Valley Digital website was over 5 years old. It was still attracting new clients but it was built on technology that has been superseded in recent years. As mentioned at the start of this blog post, this was making it a little too slow to make fast updates, modifications and conversion-focused improvements.
We spent much of the Christmas holidays getting this new website finished, so we could launch it as soon as possible in the new year.
It was agreed that the new website also needed to be:
- Interesting and not boring
- Sophisticated but not overly corporate in appearance
- Professional yet relaxed
- A simple design (container) that showcases our work. We want our work to speak for itself
- Include some animated elements but not too many
- A fresh design but not garish or over-stated.
- Bright and somewhat colourful without going over the top.
- Fast loading, including on mobile phones.
One thing we wanted to avoid was making the new website look too innovative/ too ‘over-the-top’. There is a time and place for REALLY innovative website design, but not for this website in our opinion.
We’re a grounded team based in Queensland. We aren’t flashy people and we don’t put-on-the-airs. We want to always be true to who we are and that will never change. Integrity, being real and being authentic is extremely important to us. We want this to be reflected in our website and we believe it is.
We very much welcome your feedback. Please consider letting us know what you think of our new website using the online form (below). Constructive feedback is very welcome.
We will also monitor the website to determine what aspects of it may need further improvement and/or refinement.
To own a website that works really hard for the business (or other entity) it is to represent, requires strong website design & marketing skills plus Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO).
Some of the CRO methodologies we will be using include:
- Monitoring the Google Analytics data
- We’ll be running CrazyEgg on this website to view heatmaps and other data
- We might do some A/B Split Testing
- We’ll track and monitor our Conversion Rates
- There may be other KPI’s we’ll also monitor
By going through this process we will ‘fine-tune’, optimise and ‘dial-in’ the website.
PS. I thought I may as well include a screenshot of our old website in this blog post. You can see it below.
