The BIG Benefit of a Strategic Quality Website vs an Average Website – Hint: One Makes Money

If you want more sales, read on.

Your website is your central home base online. In today’s day and age your website is the centerpiece of all your marketing. It is the one thing that most people will check out (view) before they contact your business for the first time. Your website matters.

It also legitimizes your business in the eyes of potential new customers.

Your website can either be a ‘rocket ship’ that propels your business higher; making you a LOT more money,… or it can be a liability.

All businesses should be aiming to own a strategically crafted ‘performer website’ ‘rocket ship’ with excellent Conversion Rate Optimisation built into it, along with an excellent traffic driving strategies.

Above all else, your website is THE number one representative of your business online. You have complete control over it. It can be a massive asset for you, when created correctly, or it could be a waste of time and money (a liability). The choice is totally yours.

A Performer Website (rocket ship) vs a Dead Fish Website (liability)

If your website is not generating heaps of leads, enquiries and sales each month, it is referred to as a low-performer website, otherwise know as:

  • A lackluster website
  • A dead fish
  • A liability

On the other hand, if your website has been carefully & strategically crafted by website experts who know the ingredients that a website needs in order to make it perform, you can own a performer website which:

  • Generates heaps of leads and enquiries per month
  • Generates heaps of sales per month (if your website has a well set up online shop or product catalogue built in)

A performer website makes a WHOLE lot more money for your business, vs a ‘dead fish’ website.

Which would you prefer to own:

  • A website that only generates 5 enquiries per month (if that)
  • Only 15 or so online sales per month

Or a website that:

  • Generates 15+ enquiries per week
  • 200 or more online sales per month

The latter is a ‘performer website’.

A scenario explaining how performer websites make money for service-based businesses, and how 'dead fish' websites don't:

This is a real-world scenario:

Imagine you are looking for a new mechanic. Maybe in your area you can ask friends or family: “Who is the best mechanic?” BUT maybe you can’t, OR maybe you want to do your own research.

Let’s say you visit Google and search “best car mechanic near me”. You start reading the top results in the Google SERPs (search engine results pages). Some of the listings sound better than others. Below are three examples:

You then click on one of the better sounding listings, to visit their website. At a glance the website looks so-so. They have an ok looking logo and ok looking photo, but an excess amount of boring text, the text size is small making it hard to read, and no obvious customer reviews or testimonials. There is also no text explaining why you should choose this business over any other mechanic. The website does not excite you.

You decide to go back to your Google search. You then click on another listing.

This time the website you visit loads quickly, has a good logo, a phone number at the top of the page, attractive photos, lots of obvious and easy to read customer reviews & testimonials, industry badges, quick to read informative text, selling points and good font sizes. PLUS you see some insightful blog posts on the home page. Their blog post titles (headlines) are as follows:

  • Our quality assurance checklist
  • Our apprentices are fully supervised by senior mechanics on ALL jobs. We monitor and check their work
  • Oils ain’t oils. Not only do we use the right grade of oil for your vehicle, we use the recommended manufacturers brand. Your vehicle matters to us. We care!
  • 10 ways to increase the longevity of your vehicle
  • Our vehicle servicing process and how we go above and beyond
  • We don’t take short-cuts, nor do we lie
  • 10 ways that we offer great value for money and are affordable (competitively priced)

You think to yourself, “This business looks legit. They appear trustworthy and good value for money.” They have ticking all the right boxes in your head!

You then go ahead and give them a call to find out more. They say all the right things, so you then book your vehicle in with them.

So what are some take-aways from this scenario?

The obvious one is that one business gained a new customer and the other one didn’t, because one had a great performer website and the other one didn’t.

Imagine how many opportunities the first business is missing out on each week, each month and each year because their website is an under-performing dead-fish liability?

All that business needs to do is contact a website expert who knows how to craft conversion rate optimised strategy & goal focused websites, to create for them a new website that is MUCH, MUCH better than their current website.

The new website also needs to be MUCH better than all their direct competitors, plus they’ll need to sign up for Local SEO which is affordable and worth its weight in gold (and then some!).

Their new website could be up and running within a matter of weeks and would start making them THOUSANDS of dollars each month in new customer sales!

Or they could do nothing and keep losing new business/ new customers to their competitors week after week, year after year.

Of the two websites mentioned in this scenario, which website would you like to own?

What I have written here applies to any business in any industry.

If you have an online shop or eLearning course (LMS/Learning Management System) website, or some other form of membership or eCommerce website, many aspects of the above scenario applies to your type of website too.

Please note: If you would like your website reviewed, we provide a free website review service. It’s the first step towards owning a performer website.
Or if you don’t yet have a website, contact us.
